I am currently preparing a build but i want my graphics card to be direct x 10 compatiable so I thought of getting a low end card. I am looking at the XFX Geforce 7300GS, but i thought i would get some input on this. Any cards you suggest would also be appreciated. It has to be a Nivdia card though and around 75 dollors. It would mainly be used for games like UT2004 and SOF2 mabey oblovion (as everyone i know wants me to try it). High graphics settings are a plus but not needed, just as long as it runs on medium or higher.

If you're only playing games like UT2004 and SoF2, a 7300 will be fine. But for anything modern like Oblivion...not good.

Well like i said i will be upgrading soon to somthing like a 7900GT only Direct X 10 compatiable. There is a good chance i wont be playing oblivion so it dosent matter that much. Just as long as it runs SOF.

If you want a low end card with pretty good performance, take a look at the 256MB 7300GT. They have 8 pixel pipelines instead of only 4 like in the 7300GS which makes them faster than 6600GT's and currently cost a little less, newegg has a 256MB-256bit (most are 128bit) version selling for $86 right now.

I looked at the 7600GS and the 7300GT and I thing that i'm going to go with the GT as they are closer to my price range and look pretty good. Now all I have to do is pick one out.

Thanks

Go for an FX5200. They're really cheap, but they run nicely for the price tag. I can still run games like Halo, CoD2, UT04...

No man those cards suck ass the Geforce 7300 GT is 5 times better than a crappy FX 5200.

I have heard some bad things from friends who have FX5200's, so I am reluctant to get one.

I had a FX5200, and yes, i can tell you some bad things about them....

Go with the 7300GT, its a great performing card for the price point. Much, Much better than any FX5200. From the benchmarks i've seen, the 7300GT performs about the same as a 6600GT (faster in some games, slightly slower in others). I just ordered the 256MB/256 bit XFX 7300GT from Newegg for $86 to replace my painfully slow X300.
