Okay, I was just bored and saw another term on the internet that I still have no idea what it means: Bluetooth. What is this? I've heard of this so much

The word bluetooth originates from the Danish king "Harald Bl├ątann" (Bluetooth in Scandinavian), who merged Norway and Denmark as kingdoms in the 900s.

It was the swedish company Ericcson who first developed Bluetooth in 1994, but became an open standard in 1999.

Bluetooth technology is used for wireless comunication with a standard range of 10m, but with more powerfull transmitters you can get up to 100m range. Its main use is to connect wirless applications such as mice, keyboards, printers, cellphones etc, but the field of use is expanding rapidly as wirless comunication is a hotspot these days.

On a totally other base bluetooth has little security, so i.e cellphones are known to have weaknesses while in "open" mode. There are ways to actually download data from your cellphone without you knowing it.

There is a group of companies that develope bluetooth standards under the name "Bluetooth special interest group". The promotor members are 3Com, Agere Systems, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia og Toshiba. There were originally 9 companies in the SIG group, but today thousands of smaller companies are members.

Cheers -Glas
