My computer was recently infected with some nasty spyware and although I know a few spyware removal and prevention programs, I don't think I am using the best protection of that sort. I can't just google search: "best spyware program" because most of the sites I get will probably have spyware in them. Does anyone know of a program that worked out well for them?

Firefox would be a decent start, and just general knowledge of wht you install on your computer. If you browse and install smart, you will rarly need any kind of anti-spyware. Generally to remove spyware, no one program cleans it all. When I work on someones comptuer and it is full of it. I start with Spybot S&D and follow it up with Adaware.

Spybot and adaware is what I use. You can get them free off of download.com. I also switched to firefox about a year and a half ago and I don't have any problems.

Spybot S&D, AdAware, and Windows defender -- I use all three. They work pretty well together.

Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware SE. I've used those two for a long time now and they work great.

I use MAXSecure Spyware Detector. It works very well. It looks up all worms and spyware and works very well, in my opinion, unlike some programs that for me, have actually caused problems with buying on online stores. (Often times, the software causing these problems are the most well-known, such as Symantec's Norton software, and McAfee. MAXSecure's Spyware Detector program has never caused problems such as the one I had previously stated.) I recommend software by MAXSecure.
