Ok, every time I put in a CD-rom into the drive, it does nothing. Like, when i try to play a game. I put in the cd, and double click the icon on the desktop, it says please insert cd into drive. I just doesnt do anything. What is the deal? And this just happened out of the blue! I dont think i did anything to change the settings.

Still, it's easy enough to just take off the side, wiggle the plug and see what happens.

That happened with my DVD drive, except it just wouldn't run DVDs, no reason, out of the blue stopped, so I bought a new one... Perhaps try one of these drive cleaning kits, like a CD that cleans your drive...
