VideoslaveMeh, I can get a 30" LCD monitor for the PC and get twice the res of that TV.

What does your PC monitor have to do with watching a bigscreen HDTV ? and in the end you will be stuck with a mere 30 inches sitting in front of a PC. whoooopie. Either way, wrong thread buddy.

Beef, any PC can receive TV signals if you bung a TV tuner in it. And yes, that means HDTV as well. And as the monitor can display well over the resolutions current HDTV needs, it has a lot to do with it. Hell, a lot of the better monitors have TV tuners built in. People who say that HDTV gaming is amazing have obviously never seen the quality you get from a high resolution PC monitor.

If I really wanted an HD set, I too would get a TV tuner for my PC, and upgrade my monitor. I can already watch HD signals on my LCD monitor, and I can see a huge difference over regular def signals.

I've seen the high quality of a PC monitor. yawn. compared to watching HDTV on a GOOD big screen TV. or gaming from a 360 and a HDTV. People who watch TV from their PC are funny to me. but I do understand this a PC fanboi site so I get it ;)

beef, Archaon... don't start. Or start in PM or someplace else.

Some people can't afford massive televisions, some people haven't the room. Some (like myself) just keep finding better uses for that money. Sure, HDTV is pretty. Sure, we're all going to be watching it on ├╝berscreens someday. But when you get right down to brass tacks, Who gives a rat's ass what you're watching the ballgame on, as long as you can watch it?

I do! I did my time of watching TV on a crappy 19 inch standard TV :) I can now enjoy watching the game on a nice big hi-def unit. I think everyone has the room for at least a 42 inch unit ;)

C383, have you seen a 3 chip DLP in person yet? I hear the 3 chip DLP RPTV's are coming , hopefully affordable. Puts some of m faith back into DLP technology after seeing how crappy the 1 chip home based units look :) It's a great time for TV. I even seen a fridge at Best Buy the other day with a built in LCD tv! Crazy.

Meh, well obviously TV > PC for size, PC > TV for flexibility (ok I know that's obvious as by themselve most TVs can't do much except display TV, I mean TV with hardware connected to it). For example, PC could have a digital TV tuner, DVD player and recorder, HDD recorder, music storage all in one box. Kinda beats a DVD player or HDD recorder IMO. But at the end of it, I suppose the ultimate combo for anyone who can afford it is a PC using an HDTV as the screen, either by itself or with another monitor there for general use.

I have seen a 3 chip DLP projector before (actually, on several occasions), but I really can't say that I paid enough attention to the picture to draw meaningful conclusions on it versus anything else. Too expensive still.
