I am going to get more ram.. at the moment I'm using DDR, 256mb. My question is that, I have no idea how to check the speed of my ram... could someone explain to me how? And I'm not the best with computers, so try to dumb down whatever your answer is, k thanks.

That will involve taking the RAM out of the computer, and checking the numbers on the sticker, on the ram.

This is labelled as DDR400 Memory. http://www.hsm-zamecki.de/images/SB_sm mod 1GB REG DDR400 sideways.JPG

This is labelled as PC3200 Memory. http://www.obengware.com/asesoris/2002/thermaltakea14146h.jpg

They are both the same speed memory. (close enough...) DDR400, and PC3200 are the same thing.

Hmm, well if you'd like a more detailed analysis, go here and download Everest Home Edition. It runs a diagnostic of your computer and then tells you practically everything about it. Run it, then post up your RAM speed and specs if you need more help.

I couldn't remember the name Everest, to even check it in Google.

I totally forgot about SiSoft Sandra. I haven't used it, since 2001.

If you have two slots for memory upgrade, you could get another 256 stick to double it, but I went and got 2 512 sticks for mine so I wouldn't have to upgrade again in the near future. Food for thought.
