I currently have an 80gb IDE drive in my pc running Windows XP. I am going to purchase a 320 gb ata drive. Is there a way to transfer the old disk to the new one? or do I have to re-install the operating system and everything to the new drive? thanks

You'll need something like Acronis True Image. Basically it allows you to copy your entire hard drive onto another while keeping your Windows installation intact.

Chances are you have room for more that one drive in your PC. You can keep your current drive as the boot drive, and add the new one as a slave.

Yes, but there are some freeware utilities for that ... no need to pay anything ;)

Just get Ultimate Boot CD and check the Filesystem / Partition tools.
