Normally, I think this thread would go in the technical help thread of a related game, but my problem is that it exists across a number of games. I live in an apartment with two roommates, with a good wireless LAN connection set up. My one roommate and I have tried playing LAN over a number of games using the wireless, but have so far been unsuccessful in establishing a connection. I own a Macbook with Windows XP Professional installed as well, whereas my friend has a Dell laptop with Vista on it. The games we've tried have included Call of Duty 2 (me on my Mac side, and yes it does support cross-platform games), Age of Empires 2 (Windows side), Sins of a Solar Empire (Windows side), and Battlefield 1942 (both versions don't work). Even though we are both connected to the wireless connection, I am unable to see games created by him through LAN (and vice versa). I don't think it's an issue with the different OS, because I've played LAN on Sins of a Solar Empire and Battlefield 1942 using a crossover cable with another friend with Vista. He also plays LAN over wireless with his friends with no problems, and no additional steps beyond connecting to wireless.
Does anybody know anything that can help? I've tried googling answers, but nothing I have tried seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Either it's your modem, or your mac.
