Hi all. I have almost finished my pc.. AMD 64 FX 57 2gig OCZ XT Gold plate ram (Or something) AN8 Fatal1ty mobo Seagate 300gig HDD The last thing I need is my graphics card(s). I'll be getting two in SLi. At the moment i'm thinking of getting two 7900GTX's. Is this a wise move? When will the next generation of graphics cards be out? For those who say it's overkill, no it is not. Sure, at the moment it is over kill, but in a years time if I can still run all games (Such as Crysis) at full speed and graphics, then it is not overkill. Suggetions/ideas? Cheers, Aurora.

It's overkill. Why? Because in a year's time you'll be able to pick up a card for $350 that'll kick an SLI rig from today all over the place.

Yes, but to take full advantage of that card you would need to get a new mobo too wouldnt you? How about one 7900GTX? Would that go alright on it's own? EG: Oblivion on full, plus more?

You'd be better off getting an Opteron 144 or 146 and save yourself 600 for the processor and putting one card in m8. Youll have awesome graphics and when DX10 comes along youll not be sat on 2 DX9 cards.

IMHO.

Huh?? I don't really understand that post sorry man  I wouldn't touch intel in a million years. I have already bought all the hardware except for the two graphics cards. What I want to know is, would it be a good idea getting two 7900GTX's in SLi, or just get one? What are the benefits of the two cards now, and a year down the track? Is the performance boost for two in SLi worth the extra $$? OR should I get one 7900GTX now, and upgrade when DX10 comes out? So much confusion!

EDIT: In that case, if it's not worth the extr amoney, should I get an ATi X1900XXX (Or whatever it is) and link it up through crossfire with say a Radeon X800XT for the extra performance boost?

not sure you can mix and match and seeing your stats i would say you have more money than sense so go for 2 7900 gtx and why you go for fx 57?

No, you wouldn't.

And Oblivion runs fine with all the eye candy turned on with a 7800GT.

lewis55 why you go for fx 57?

I think why not is the question. It's the best gaming CPU around, and it's not intel :)
