I'd say replace the main hard drive with a 10,000 rpm drive, then have the 250 as the second drive, and make sure the second is SATA II

:agreed Get a 150gb Western Digital Raptor (10,000 rpm).

Change the soundcard to a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (or any other X-Fi model).

Also anything more specific on the PSU? What make/model?

Why would you get an SLI motherboard but only get one graphics card?

Yeah, I've good things about them. Considered one before, but it's outta my budget. I'd suggest the 10,000 RPM for the OS and Games, then the 250 for just other files (music, movies, documents, pictures, etc.).

Because it's the Dual-GPU 7950. It's got a gig of memory on it, that's overkill as itself, not anything I can think of even needs that, but it'll be good for a good long time.

I'm jw, where are you buying this from, and what's the price?

I've picked it out of a selection of spec on http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk and they build it for you, they didnt say anything about the PSU but it will definately work with the system, all i did was pick the right specs for me, copy and paste them here. Oh and the price for this is £1300, or just under. Its hard to think about what to do whith DX10 and all that as its gunna cost me loads more to upgrade again after and i REALLY need a pc now tbh. I know i can fill the space with a 256Mb/512Mb Nvidia GeForce 7900/7900GX but its deciding wether its worth all the hastle in the first place..........

My inflated .02 cents... Who needs a floppy nowadays? thumbdrive or cd's work just as good if not better nowadays. I'd second the 10k drive. It really does make a huge difference. I reformated in a quarter of the time it took me before. Also, maps and such load so much faster on my games, I get first dibs on the map. Also, since we're talking uber, you should go with a X-Fi Platinum, or Fatality, for it to be a high end rig. And I'd definately confirm the power supply make. all those pretty parts and a BS powersupply is a shame. I'd look at Antec, OCZ, PC Power & cooling, etc. I'm also not too sure about that case. I'd check out a Lian-Li or silverstone case, but that's pure preference but all that placed in a steel disco ball case is a shame. What kind of HSF/cooling system are you thinking of going? Air or H2o? This is absolutely crucial for a high end rig. Monitor and speaker system? (don't tell me you'll be using a 19" crt and 2 desktop speaker set up with this rig) I'd recommend a Dell FPW in the 20-24" variety. also for speakers, nothing less than Logi Z5500's. Kebyboard and mouse? G5 and G15 are staple high end periphreals. Corsair RAM, I'm just being nit picky because I run Corsair myself, but if we're talking about building a monster I'd check out offerings from Mushkin, OCZ or Crucial. Corsair are good rams, but for the uber leet they are just better than average. It's these finer details that make an seperates a gaming rig from the rest and give it that "uber" status. Please don't take offense, I'm just trying to give some creative input. Good luck!

Aristotle13Who needs a floppy nowadays? thumbdrive or cd's work just as good if not better nowadays.[/quote] Floppy discs suck... I've pulled them brand new out of the package before, and my computer said "Please insert a disk into drive A:\" Can't format it, it doesn't see the damn thing. The G5 is nice, but do NOT go for the MX5000/MX1000 Combo if you want wireless!! The reception from the bluetooth is horible. I'd say go for a Logitech G7 Mouse and Logitech G15 Keyboard (I can guarantee the G15 is amazing, mainly because it is corded, and geared for gaming)
