After battling with my laptop for a good few months now, (it's five years old and on its last legs) I made the move to take Windows 7 off and I made the move to a Linux only system with the aim of it being easier to run for my machine (less processer, RAM and Graphics intensive)
After downloading the free 998MB zipped iso and loading it onto a flash stick, i simply rebooted my machine and said farewell to Microsoft.
After some tinkering thereafter my desktop now looks like this

Ugh Unity >.< Set the terminal on the bar and you're set. It's a good system :D
Nevermind, you're ahead of me! I didn't look closely. Welcome to a full Linux system :D
lol, cheers made it look a bit like a Mac using Macbuntu because that's what i am going to upgrade too when i have the $$$, Will keep this system going as long as the laptop holds out though.
Don't worry about the edit i do it all the time, not reading posts properly lol.
Mac is not an upgrade. How will you play games? You can probably get more to run on Linux than on Mac through WINE.
you can also run a wine compatibility layer on Mac, but ill probably bite the bullet and play WoW
dno, i might not, i imght opt for a pimpin lappy and an ipad
or go the other way and get a macbook and a pimping dektop
Well the 1st and 3rd tie. The others can fuck off. The first has AMD and Radeon, the 3rd Intel and Nvidia. Personally, I'm fine with AMD processors, never had a problem. Radeon cards, on the other hand, gave me a bit of trouble once, so I only buy Nvidia. That said, Radeon is perfectly fine. You should compare the two cards to see which is better. Getting the 1st one would save you a bit of money to spend on games or a new monitor though, so that's something to consider.
EDIT: srsly don't get the 2nd, it's crap. The 4th would be best if you want to stick with Nvidia, but want to save money. It's not as good as the 1st, despite the higher price (which is brought about by the fact that it has an Intel CPU and Nvidia graphics. You're paying for the brand, essentially, and get a bit less performance).
