Ok, here's my current system (custom built by teh me) -Intel Pentium IV 3.00GHz -512mb Generic Ram -80gb Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 -Radeon 9200SE 128mb -Modded case, etc Very soon i'll be selling this box in favour of: -AMD64 3700+ (Clawhammer) -2048mb Corsair Ram -120gb Hard Drive (Another Hitachi, methinks) -Radeon X700PRO 256mb -Another modded case, etc (Again, custom built by teh me) Now, I'm all in favour of migrating to AMD, however until i can get me paws on a copy of WinXP 64-bit, I've heard that the 32-bit emulation on this chip is quite shoddy, and I was wondering how much this will affect the speed of the chip. Also, any comments on the system in general? Thanks smilie.gif

32-bit emlustion is excellent on AMD chips, they own intel in gaming. Only get 1gb of ram for now and get an x800 series or a 6800 series card.

Check the specs on the motherboard before deciding about the ram. My ABIT AV8 only supports two DIMM`s if I want to run dual channel at 400 MHz,if I want to upgrade I have to buy two 1024 sticks instead of the 512`s.

You heard wrong. If anything, XP-64 has issues with 32-bit apps.

Definately get only 1GB of RAM, and get something like a 3500+ or a 3200+. That will save you a few hundred dollars in itself, and you can use that cash to (like pet said) upgrade to an X850 series, or if you wait till August 11th you can get a 7800GT.

He is getting a socket 754 system since the +3700 comes in clawhammer in s 754 Wait, don't skimp on the +3700, its pretty much an underclocked Fx-57. The FX series and the +3700 have the same cashe, just diffent clock rates. All the good 754 motherbaords all have 3 dimms so you won't have to worry about wether to buy 1gb sticks or 2 512 ones(754 does not support dual channel).

I never had any trouble with mine on the 32bit apps. All my 32bit apps run hella faster than intel on 32bit. Also I never herd any trouble with AMD on 32bit from no one else, just good things.
