hey guys im j/w but i have 2 questions.
1. which ones faster, amd athlon 64 3200+ OR pentium 3.2ghz?
2.If i get either, will it be like WOW, what a difference! from a sempron 2400+ or just like 5 fps.
thanks
The athlon is going to be faster.
Generally speaking most 64 bit processors are going to be faster than P4's. The only exception is some pentium 4 extreme editions.
k thx :) well unless you guys can find me a better cpu and mobo with agp 8x and pci-e x16 for 250$ :)

The Athlon 64 3200+ will be just as fast, or faster than a 3.2Ghz P4 and cost less at the same time. There not faster because there 64bit though, intels 6xx series P4's are 64bit enabled and the Athlons still whoop them.
Coming from a 2400+ sempron, it will be like WOW.
AMD is faster than Intels. Many benchmarks shown a AMD 3500+ that cost $200 out beats or the same as a Intel P4 Extream Edtion that cost $1,000.
Yes going from a Sempron to a AMD 3200+ will be like going from a car that can only go 20mph to a car that can do 150mph.
peepeek thx :) well unless you guys can find me a better cpu and mobo with agp 8x and pci-e x16 for 250$ :)
Aye?? I did not get that post one bit.
Yeah the Extreme Editions are pretty much pointless IMO, its sad that intel has to make a uber expensive chip just to keep up with a 3500+ isn't it?
You want a mobo with AGP and PCIe support peepee? Ok... >here< you go.
When you are taking a new mother board, check if it has an AGR slot. It will let you use some specific AGP cards like 5700 etc. And for gaming, AMD is the best. No dount about it. And what's more, it costs less.
it all depends, socket 754 athlon? socket 478 Pentium 4? Socket LGA 775 Pentium 4? Pentium D? Socket 939 Athlon? You need to specify.
He is using a Sempron 2400+...Semprons only use Socket 754 and Socket 'A', and the 754 were released in 2800+ and above i beleive.
AMD Athlon 64 are only in 939 and 754, but he want's a 3200+ which are in both forms. But either way, he would most probably need a new Motherboard.
