Its been a loong time since I have posted here but I found myself in need of hardware help today. My motherboard said godtnight last.... night. So I think this is a good reason to buy some new hardware. My current system is: Asus P5D DH Delux motherboad Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Nvidia 8800GTX Corsair something 2gb of ram
What I was thinking about getting: Intel Core i7 920 Hardware.no - Prisguide - Intel Core i7 920 OCZ DDR-1333 6 GB Hardware.no - Prisguide - OCZ DDR-1333 6 GB Asus P6T SE Hardware.no - Prisguide - Asus P6T SE
So what do you guys think? Is that motherboard SLI ready?
Do you have any sort of price constraints you need to work with? Because if you don't, then you're better off getting rid of your 8800GTX and getting a new graphics card as well. And if you do, then it might be a better idea to go with a Phenom II system.
And no, the mobo you have there doesn't have SLI support. Only Crossfire. I wouldn't really recommend getting that board anyway. What I would recommend sort of depends on your budget as well. Budget = Newegg.com - ASRock X58 Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards. No budget = Newegg.com - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards or Newegg.com - MSI X58 Eclipse SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
So the AMD Phenom II is a better cpu? Intel isent king of the hill anymore?
Oh Intel is, but AMD CPUs are better for your wallet.
Bottom line: if you can afford it, go Intel, if you're on a budget though, go with AMD.
So the AMD Phenom II is a better cpu? Intel isent king of the hill anymore?
It is. But even now the price of having a Core i7 system is prohibitively expensive compared to the Phenom II. The thing is, that the Phenom II is priced to compete with the Core 2 Quads, which is does very well. Whereas the Core i7 targets a whole different price point, the enthusiasts who don't care how much money they spend as long as they get the best performance.
How about this: Asus P6T Deluxe Intel Core i7 920 OCZ DDR-1333 6 GB
Is that okey setup? I will uppgrade the 8800GTX later. Will the 8800gtx be a big bottleneck?
If gaming, yes, if not, not so much.
What will you be doing with this computer? Will you be playing games? If yes, what games?
yeah I will be playing some games. Mostley new ones.
I'd say throw a cheap motherboard in that system and wait to upgrade until everything else goes down in price.
I dont do cheap/low quality.
