I'm not certain to as weather you can use the American PS3 on your Euro TV. In the States, we used the NTSC video format on our TV's and DVD players. And in Europe you guys use the PAL format. Since the American PS3 is going to be outputting in the NTSC format, I'm not certain that it will work will your PAL TV.

Yes- the Blu-Ray movies are region specific (luckily, the games are not).

I'm sure that you could find a power cable to swap with the one that comes with the PS3. My greater concern is weather you can set the PS3 to handle the 230V input. Most computer power supplies let you do this, but I'm not to certain that the PS3 does.

1. Yes, if your TV can display 60Hz (most can, but some can't) which is required for NTSC.

2. Yes. You'll have to import them from the USA. Because of the exchange rate, games will be cheaper but remember you'll have to pay 17.5% tax and I believe the Royal Mail handling fee is about £10.

3. Don't know. As Marv said, the PSU on the PS3 may not be capable of working from a 230V line. You may be able to get a transformer that can do it, but to be honest if you're going to have to buy extra bits to make it work and have to import games...just buy one at home mate. Much easier in the long run.

Thanks for the help guys.

But I've read that the games on the PS3 are not zone-locked, while the movies is. Can this be correct?

And isnt the whole NTSC/PAL problem non-existent on HDTVs?

Yes and no. Yes if you want to use the standard def output and no if you want to use the HI-DEF output.

And yes, the games are not locked by region. You can buy a UK game and play it on an American PS3.

The power thing can be gotten round by just buying a EU power lead for a ps3 off ebay or somewhere.

Your local video game store or Best Buy (if you have one) might have a power cable for European PS3s.

Thank you very much guys. Think I'm gonna go for it.

However, do anyone of you know if the games are gonna stay zone-free, or if they are going to implement it on future releases later on?

Oh, and is it possible to upgrade a PS3 for both zone 1 and 2, similar to DVD players, or is this illegal?
