well, my guess is that you have a pretty bad virus on your computer and thats whats causing you to restart all the time. However if you take it to a computer repair shop I bet they can get it started it. It looks like your going to have to wipe your computer and re-install windows. Hey that gave me idea why don't you trying puting your windows XP disk in an repair your computer might work.

Eh, not so much, just reinstall Windows XP, WITHOUT formatting the drive, it'll either.. A) Let you choose a new folder for the Windows install or B) Rename the old windows folder and install to \Windows

Which means you get you files back...Try safe mode, sounds like a simple driver or software conflict, I believe its F8 to bring the safe mode boot menu up, tap F8 during the POST.

Don't waste time with "Last known good configuration" that rarely works, never have I seen it work, and only twice have I heard of it working

dude...Media is old school You have a recovery partition, and besides, HP have a huge "Create Recovery Media!!" thing popup upon first boot, and it keeps appearing until you do create the media... You can just use the recovery partition, F11 to access it during POST

If it wasn't for Microsoft we'd be using computers like those in the stoneage Microsoft are the ones we can thank for having programs and computers where they are, sure its not perfect, but can you do better?

of course i can not, just wanted to blame someone :p i did get the recovery option, when i first booted my pc, but that's only the basic software and such. yes ofcourse windows did good things, there just some ignorant issues they have, but for the rest yes it is a decent program. mac also is good, but nothing is made for mac so nobody uses in neither. but i'm going to hand in my pc tomorrow in a shop, and hope they can fix it well. if the memory gets lost, i will lose much of work, that's why i am in such a panic. there are songs i made, partitures, texts , photos ... all could be lost so that's a bit why i react so forcefull, but yes you're opinion is right, i pardon myself

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that you should loose your data.

You may have to reinstall your games, because some DLLs are missing, but otherwise, it will be fine.

If you loose your data, I would sue the tech shop for neglegence.

The information can be archived to CDs, by connecting your C:\ drive to another computer.

Windows can be reinstalled without erasing anything. Your installation may even be repairable.

And so on, and so forth. There are a dozen options to ensure the safety of your data.

Another thing, did you try to get it to start in save mode, without it trying to start normally first? It might help. And I do recommend you get buy an actual win CD, since generally the best remedy for all and any problems you can ever get is a reformat of your OS partition.
