Alright, this happends when I play heavy games such as Forgotten Hope, but even Counter-Strike 1.6 and other games do it as well.

It happends when I have played the game for some time (probably 2-3 hours).

Or if I continuesly enter the game, join a server, quit the game and back 'n forth.

It crashes to desktop, but it dosnt freeze. Now if I try to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del it gives me this error >>Link to screenshot<<

Also if I open internet explore it cant open pages, it gives the 404 error on all pages. (Even though my connection is fine).

I reboot and everything is fine again.

If someone could tell me what in godsname theres wrong I would owe you forever!

Heres my PC specs:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Galaxy geforce 6600GT Zalman SLI Non-Brand x2 1024 DDR400 (2gb) AMD Athlon 64 4000+ /W Zalman Heatsink & Fan Maxton 160GB SATA 7200-RPM NorthQ 400WATT

The 0xc0000017 error means that your system is low on virtual memory.

This can usually occur if your OS requires more memory than you have in RAM and then keeps dumping data to your page files. However you said you have 2GB Ram which would mean that you are seriously thrashing the box for this to occur.

Another possibility is that you are running a program that has a memory leak. This would mean that the OS is storing data in memory that is longer required for you applications.

I'd try doing 2 things. Firstly goto the Event Viewer and have a close look at any errors or warnings that are occuring at the time of the issue and also at startup. If you've never used Event Viewer before for a run down on it.

The other thing you might try is open up you Task Manager and look at the processes tab. Check the Mem Usage, Peak Mem Usage and VM Size fields of the processes both after start-up and again after the issue occurs. You'll be looking for any processes that has a major jump in 1 or all of these figures.

Hope this helps.

Well I got the G15 keyboard with the LCD Performance monitor, and when the "sort-of-crash" occurs my ram isnt a 100% its more like 60-70% or so.

Also I dont see any errors in the event viewer theres about the 0xc0000017.

The 0xc0000017 is the symptom, so there probably wouldn't be anything in the Event viewer related to it. What your looking for is the cause of the memory leak. What sort of errors or warnings are you getting in your event viewer? if any?

Also do you have Aventail Connect virtual private network (VPN) installed on your computer? Microsoft have posted an article ( to view) on a known link between this app and the error. If so try taking the actions they recommend.

this issue is a sign that one of your dimms is about to go. if it was a swap file issue, your HD would be trashing like crasy and it would be noticeable. try runing your machine with one dimm at a time to single out the bad one, it is very rare that both dimms go at the same time.

Well, I found out so far that its an software error. I closed all unnessecary applications in taskmanager and ran Forgotten Hope, and tried to recreate the error. Nothing happend. So it seems like its 1 of my applications thats doing this. Could it be Bullguard (anti-virus/firewall)? or even explorer?

I'm not familiar with Bullguard so I couldn't advise on it.

I would suggest that you try and locate which app is causing the issue either through process of elimination.

Or

Switch the apps on again, note their Mem Usage, Peak Mem Usage and VM Size, create the error and recheck these figures. If ones blown out then thats your troubled app.

I've had similiar problems with Zone Alarm.

When one of my games tries to connect to the internet, it pops up a small message saying that the game is trying to connect. That crashes a lot of my games.

I had to manually go in, find the executables, and manually set most of the games to allow.

Its not exactly that issue but thanks anyways.

I will try to locate the actual problem later today, I just hope it aint my Bullguard. (I hate being unprotected :naughty:)
