Hey, its Jedi again! After looking at the new list that was posted just recently (THANKS, REVEN, IT WAS VERY HELPFUL), and I have found a graphics card that is only $100 (well, okay, $99.99 with shipping) that may work for me. Will this graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130064 work with my system? As I've said before, I am wanting to play games like Republic Commando, Halo, and Battlefront. My system specs: Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2GHz) RAM: 512mb Video Card: nVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (256mb) (SM 2.0) Maximum resolution (for monitor): 1280 x 1024 (32bit) (80Hz refresh rate) Sound Card: Realtek AC97 Audio (came with PC) I will probably be asking about other video cards, too, so don't forget to check this thread for more stupid questions of mine  :D

You are probably stuck with AGP, unless you have one of the few motherboards out there that have an AGP and a PCIe slot.

$100 for that card is a good price, however, i found one on Tiger Direct thats more powerful and a little cheaper http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1779348&CatId=935 Regardless of what card you go with, i would suggest atleast 512 more ram

I can't find anywhere to get more RAM! Can someone give me a link to some well-priced RAM? I keep looking and only finding things like RAM heatsinks and regular Hard Drive memory. BTW, I think I could survive without 1GB of RAM. I've been more than satisfied with my current 512mb/GeForce FX 5500 combo, so I would be jumping for joy if I had a video card like the one I mentioned!! Unless 512mb more RAM is necessary for that card? I know that one review on the link said so, but...I have found that my standards for gaming graphics are deathly low :P I have lived with 20 FPS in Republic Commando for years and not really complained about it :P

Get the card Drag linked you to. For $15 extra it's considerably better. And yes, get more RAM. It's one of the most important parts of any system, and it'ss especially important for a Windows one.

As for where to get it, christ, look on NewEgg. It may be under memory, not RAM. You want DDR400 or PC3200. Same thing, different term.

But is it completely necessary to get more RAM? Will the video card be able to run without it? I'm all for making this computer faster, but I am on a somewhat limited budget at the moment. I need to spend the least amount of money as possible.

Yes, the video card will run w/o more ram, but then your ram will be the thing that it most holding back your computer.
