I have an HP a1230n, i decided its time to do a little more gaming and i need a new card cause the one that came with the system aint the best....... i really need help because im not sure what to buy, i wanna spend only around $200, i mainly play Oblivion, but also HL2, FEAR, PREY and some others. I dont need everything maxed out, i just want a nice card with smooth graphics. A little help please. Thanks in advance:)
no its actually not a dual-core :( but i do have a PCI-express
What type of video card does it need? AGP or PCI-express? I'm ruling out plain PCI because it's a fairly recent (dual-core) PC.
Some review I looked up said it did. Oh well. You do have an Athlon 3700+ though, right?
Here's a link to his specs: http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_Pavilion_a1230n_Athlon_64_3700_2_2_GHz/4507-3118_7-31518258.html?tag=sub
And here's a link to a good PCI-E card in his range at his price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150185
(it's a 7600GT), The only problem is that you'll almost certianly need a new PSU for that card.
And why does it seem like there are some missing posts?

Is a decent, relatively affordable power supply.
Mmmm... Modular PSU... Yeah, that one'll last awhile. It's a good brand and a good hunk of wattage as well.
