I had the same thing happen to my FX5200 and about a week later the fan finally quit working and the card over-heated.

Just get you a newer, better card. You can still replace the fan and keep it as a spare.

Actually this is a good point. The video card's fan may stop working altogther, and your video card may burn up.

I've installed a fan directly below the video card for a temporary fix. I'll be getting a new card on Friday after I get payed though. Only thing is I can't seem to decide weather to get the GeForce FX 5500 or the Radeon 9550. Sadly I don't have many other options since I won't have that much money to play around with.

If you can get a ATI 9600. The FX5500 not worth getting. 9600 is a better card and only like $10 more than a 9550.

Very nice card. One thing that I forgot to mention is that due to hardware limitations that I can only use a PCI card currently. So far I've only been able to find that card as an AGP. :(

Your FX5200 overheated? The one i used to have never had a fan on it, it just had the stock heatsink, and it never overheated once (even when overclocked).

If you can only use PCI cards, if would go with that 9550 if you can find one in PCI, other than that your best options are a FX5500, or a FX5700LE.
