I am looking to buy my friend a video card and she doesn't have anything except a PCI slot. Any suggestions?

PCI Video Cards, PCI Video Capture Card, PCI Graphic Cards at TigerDirect.com

Theres a pretty good list of PCI cards, you can find them anywhere. They may be rare in stores these days but you can still find them online no problem.

I would save for a used PC with at last AGP before I would put out good money for a PCI card.

What kind of computer is it? Got any specs?

I understand what its like to not have the money to get something better but I dont think a PCI card is going to help you much these days.

Some of the recent Integrated Graphics Processors are better than the best PCI card.

Not really, integrated still wouldn't play anything well, or at all most of the time with newer games. I have PCI and I am running a 512 mb card and I play fear, stalker, doom 3, oblivion, all at highest settings and i don't have any problems.

Agreed. That would be due to use of the PCI-Express bus as opposed to the old (and much slower) PCI bus on the more recent applications of IGP's.

Eh, it is PCI-express. I always get mixed up cuz my last one was PCI =p Still, it depends on what you are doing. Buying a whole new system may not be necissary.

They did produce a PCI 6200, whilst not cutting edge its about as modern as you will get for PCI.

It doesn't need to be awesome it just needs to be able to play some basic games at midlevel settings... maybe Halo PC and games close to that in intensity. But no it must be PCI and a new system isn't an option.

The pci cards are much more expensive than agp and pci express. There are a few pci cards out there that might be able to handle Halo 1 etc. The agp and pci express counterparts with the same price will perform twice or even three times faster than the pci card.
