OK, my price range is about $110-$150. I'm getting a new card solely to play BF2. I'm currently running it on a FX 5500 and it sucks... very badly. Anyway, someone on another board mentioned a 6600 GT, and I was wondering if this was any good? Or if anyone can think of any better cards within that price range, please share the knowledge.
Slightly cooler than a n00b

The ATI X800 is right in that price range. That will handle BF2 without a problem. There might also be a few Geforce 6800's in that price range too. Either of those two will run BF2 jsut fine.
I don't spend enough time here

6600 gt is a great choice. and i havent heard anything bad about evga. I also run a 6600gt.
You may want to see if you can find a 256 meg 6600gt in your price range. Check newegg.com and pricewatch.com to see if you can find one. Itll improve preformance alot.
I love people, they taste good

The 5500 does suck(it's in my dads PC)I would go with the 6800 or the 6600(pref the 6800). The general rule of Nvidia, higher the number bettter it is.
Well I did a bit of searching and most of the 6600 cards I could find that were 256 meg and in my price range all had pretty crappy customer reviews, (they all ended up fried after a few months). I found a few x800's and this looks to be the best one for me, (read - one I can afford). Now since all I really want to do is play BF2, is it really going to matter much if I get that x800 over the 6600 GT? Will that extra $30 make much of a difference?
Yea get the X800 its a much faster card than the 6600 GT, The only downside is that the X800s dont go up to ps 3.0 for newer games to look better.
Well I looked around a bit more and I decided on getting this. I read a pretty good bit of reviews on different sites and they were all pretty positive.
good choice! Its alot better than my 6600 GT and I paid $50 more for it, well that was a while back. BTW u might wanna dish out just a bit more cash for the 256 mb 6800. mabey this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1782292&CatId=318
I saw that and thought about it becuase I got my old job back today but I figured screw it. This will do for a while until I upgrade to PCI. Thanks though.
