I need something like adobe premiere, but not as crap. I need a program that basically does all the same things as premiere but doesn't crash when you import files and doesn't slow down the frames so the video and audio do not sync up. It can be a demo or free I just need it for a couple of days for an assignment, cheers.

Windows Movie Maker. If you have some kind of store like Best Buy near by you can find better ones there.

Sounds like your system may be underpowered for what you were attempting with AP, as it should not do that. I had none of those problems even with the AP Elements trial. That being said I'm a big fan of Xvid so I use VirtualDub, which gives me the best Xvid results by far. The tradeoff is VDub won't do titles, transitions, effects or credits, just basic frame editing, filtering and compression. You even have to demux the audio and video if you want to add background audio then remux it (Audacity works wonders). The other tradeoff is it's slow at compressing. VDub's filters are by far the best I've used though and the image quality and file size using 2 Twopass compressions with Xvid is amazing.
