Just a little background on my situation. I'm a DJ and I use both audio and video formats. I'm just now starting to dabble in the VJ field. I'm slowly building my collection of music videos, as I get the money for updates and what not. My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv3510nr.

The issue: Video out doesn't work with TV's.

I'm trying to connect to the TV's at a bowling alley (I DJ on Friday's and Saturday's during Cosmic...or Neon...bowling) via an RCA connection. I do believe I have the right hardware to do so. It's a VGA out on my laptop. I just recently bought a VGA to RCA converter along with an extended video cable to connect to the cable going to the monitors. (Amazon.com: VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC Video: Electronics << that's the item I bought...I hope it's the right thing) I've troubleshot everything I know how to do. I've tried it twice at the alley, and once on a TV in my house. I can't get my laptop to recognize the TV's yet it has no problem recognizing an external monitor connected via a VGA connection.

Any ideas as to what I should do?

I think your problem is that your laptop needs to support TV-out for that cable to work. You're probably going to have to do something more elaborate if the TVs only support RCA connections.

Do you have any home theater equipment that takes HDMI? Like a bluray player? You could bring that in and use it to input HDMI and output RCA.

You know what, I don't think I've thought of that. I don't have anything that takes HDMI in. Everything I have does HDMI out.
