Hey all, long time since I have been on. I am restraining myself to using my nortan antivirus 04. I hate the damn thing, doesn't do a good job at anything, except ruining the performance of my machine. What would be a good free virus scanner on the web, oh, and keep in mind, I AM ON DIAL UP! so plz, no bigger then 50mb. Thx

The problem with "free scans" is that you have to be careful, sometimes you just end up putting spyware, or worse, a virus onto your computer through them.

I use AVG and find it works great. Ofcourse, I always advise you pay for a Virus Program too, just to be sure. I bought NOD32, and it's great.

Consider using NO antivirus program; simply trust your firewall and common sense. I haven't got AVG for two years and during this time there hasn't been a single problem. ;)

Clever

AVG, Bit-Defender, and Avast are the top Anti-Virus programs available for free.

Avast updates multiple times a day. It seems like it updates every 3 hours. AVG used to update weekly, but it can be configured to update daily. I have not yet tried Bit Defender.
