Homer Gonerson;4553699Can I vote twice? I think a desktop and laptop running XP should count for 2 votes

I should get 2 more votes for my 98 and ME computer I still have that are still better then XP.

Even today My XP at work was freezing up real bad and it has 1gig of ram and it's only 4 months old. :uhoh:

WinMe is better than XP? For that matter, Win32 is better than WinNT!?

I expect the problems at work are,...

1. Viruses

2. Dust Bunnies.

3. Heat.

Pull that case out, and make sure that the fans on the inside of the computer are not clogged.

The-Bleh-Bleh;4558109What should an operating system be? It should be a platform to run programs. As far as I'm concerned, the newer the operating system, the more fundamentally flawed. I don't want more features, I want it to work. I want it to do exactly what I want, logically and quickly.

Vista: Not uniform, and inefficient: Navigating through settings is hell in Vista. What is their problem? It seems the goal of moving from 98, XP to Vista is to make the control panel less and less logical. It's like they're trying to make it annoying to use. Oh, and don't remind me about the UAC. If I doubleclick a game I want to play the game, not see a message telling me my computer could explode. Vista: Sucky Bloated Features: Vista is loaded with simply suckkage. For example, security. The protection is more annoying than anything it's protecting against. It's terrible, especially when it doesn't even do a good job. Then when you disable it, it spams you with scary warnings. Ugh. I have a right to complain Vista is slow, because nothing that's thrown on there is even useful or justified imo.

Vista with sp1 does just that. Every program I have installed on it works perfectly. Better than on XP pro. You are GROSSLY exaggerating this. Unless you did something wrong. It NEVER comes up when launching a game. NEVER. The only time it comes up is when you make a change to a program. The only programs that sets it off is FRAPS(on my rig, mind you). UAC is a brilliant program. Turning it off & running real-time malware scanning uses more resources than UAC. You have mo idea what UAC actually does.

Every thing Thrown on Vista has its purpose. SuperFetch...makes commonly used programs access quickly. UAC prevents unauthorized changes without your knowledge. Maybe you need to do some research before makinig unfounded claims. Read this & tell me again how Vista sucks & is bloated. READ

yes... and after reading all that, benchmarks STILL do not compare to xp. Whether SP1 is installed or not.

So while vista is stable, it is no better than xp in most cases. So again, why spend 300 dollars on an os that has resource demands that out weigh the common users needs when xp is available?

As I said before, most of the issues and problem come pre-sp1 for vista. The service pack cleared alot of it's issues. But still has problems where it comes to being used by the " common" man.

When you say freezing, it could be anything. You don't mention when. Maybe the program you are using it has an issue ? People always assume it is the os.

And in Microsoft, if Explorer crashes (as it so often did in XP), who else are you to blame?

the person who is using the pc... they should know better than use explorer anyways...Should be using FF. So blame the person who blames Microsoft.

I believe he means explorer.exe, not IE.
