I completely forgot about this guy for a while. But yeah, back when Windows XP was considered bloated, he made a page documenting different tweaks you can do and which services are safe to turn off. He's at it again with Vista. Windows Vista Information His page may look.. well 1994'ish.. but the information he has is well worth the visit.

well, it'll be needed for DX10 games, so I did all the changes I could to improve the performance. On this guys services page I matched my settings with that of his and everything runs just as fast as xp now. Yes, yes I know I sound like a spammer.. I'm just really impressed on how well it worked is all.

I did all those optimizations and service settings for XP he had listed on my gaming PC, i have to say, it did speed it up a bit. The biggest improvement was ram usage, it dropped my ram usage at desktop alot.

Good find n0e.

I'm thinking of becoming a more active PC gamer - would this mean, that to play games like Halo 2, Alan Wake and Crysis, I'd need to install Vista? If so, I'm screwed with my current setup. I'd need to buy a whole new system.

However, this guide will probably come in handy.
