If you have the money and want to spend it, why not. If not build your own

I would have to agree with everyone else. Build it yourself. I like knowing exactly what was put in my computer because I put it there myself :) The look of Alienware is cool, but most of that can be mimiced (sp?) with cases and mods.

I think Alienware makes very good systems; however they are very expensive.

If you know almost nothing of how computer hardware works, of if you've never built your own system, then Alienware would be a decent way to go as long as you feel comfortable spending the money on it; but, if you are comfortable with building your own system, then by all means do so. It will save you money, and it always feels better to be running games on something you put together yourself.

If you're buying Alienware for its looks, you can get better-looking cases yourself for a lot cheaper. In fact, I think you can get the same cases... If you're buying Alienware for its performance, you'd be better off building your own. If you're buying Alienware because you don't know how to build your own computer and can't find anybody to help you, I have a better and cheaper suggestion -- visit your local computer store. I don't mean PC World or whatever, I mean your local, independently-owned computer store. Check out its reputation first, of course, but find one. Tell them what you want inside your computer, and they'll give you one even if they have to build it themselves. And it'll cost you a mere fraction of the price of an Alienware. Stores such as that are very good in that regard, mainly because they have to be in order to survive. If you're buying Alienware just so that you can say to people, "I have an Alienware computer! Neeya!", then... well, it's your money. I'd hate to be your bank manager though.

Same as what Mr.Matt said. Alienware is just another computer-vendor and you can get better for cheaper if you build your own rig. Their PCs are good, I admit, but extra ricey.

Anyone else notice that this topic shows up about once every five weeks or so?

QFE and QFT on Mr.Matt's reply.
