Found this article on Gizmodo today, seems like it has really solid advice:
Giz Explains: How to Choose the Right Graphics Card - Graphics Cards - Gizmodo
As I've experienced my own headaches sifting through Nvidia's and ATI's marketing schemes and naming conventions. Ugh.
So what do you think?
Thanks

I didn't read the whole thing, but it seems to be a great starting point for 'dummies.'
9800GTX being more powerful than a GTS250? I was under the impression they were practically the same card. :/
I think the 8800gt/9800gt/gtx250 are all the same cards.
They are. That's one thing I was going to point out. The GTS 250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+, to the extent that a BIOS flash will essentially get you a GTS 250 with a 9800GTX+ sticker on the side.

I guess I'd be in that category as I sort of know what some of the components are but Nvidia and ATI's model numbers and naming conventions confuse the heck out of me.:uhm:
I dont' know how you guys keep, far too much reading for my tastes.:(

I read what others might term an "unhealthy" amount as-is. If/when you build your own rig, you'll probably be do the same as research. I'd think it's safe to say that everyone here did with their first rig. :)

Not me...:( \/
