The only thing I would possibly buy from Dell is one of their monitors.

I just found a gateway that is very close to the one Sedistix described. The only difference is that it has two 500GB HDD's and a crappy 8500GT...but it is close to being $300 cheaper. $699.99 at Buy.com

Sedistix;4283569CyberPower has consistently received awards year after year for having the worst systems available. Either corrupt from the get go, or soon to be falling apart. There also a lot of complaints about systems coming without the specified hardware and in some cases none at all. For example Joe specifies a 600watt Brand name PSU, but instead gets a 300 watt generic. This "wrong" or flat out "missing" hardware also extends to software as another common issue with CyberPower is paying for the OS, and not receiving it. As for "support" or technical assistance of any kind. As far as I can tell it only extends to the point where they get paid, and from then on out if you have a problem, of any kind. It's your problem alone. (These issues may have changed in the last 6 months, but I doubt it.)

In doing research about them prior to my own purchasing, I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't recommend CyberPower to anyone, unless my goal was to cause them grief.

Just my opinion. Do the searching yourself and see.

As for the question? How about this: Gateway FX7024 Desktop Computer

CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core processor with VT Each core operating at 2.40 GHz 2 x 4 MB L2 cache 1066 MHz front side bus

Memory: Installed: 3072 MB DDR2, 667 MHz, (PC2-5300)

Harddrive: 500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA II hard drive

VideoCard: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT Factory over-clocked

Gateway Computers: Retail - Product Details for Gateway® FX7024 How much?

$979.99

This Machine will run almost anything you throw at it in very high settings, and if it doesn't. Then it's the games fault, not the PC's. A friend of mine has the FX7020, the lesser system of the two (Which also has a higher price) and his plays everything he throws at it perfectly, and with it settings maxed out including AS, and AA. (Crysis of course being the exception, good luck to anyone and that game)

It'd be hard for anyone to get a machine that could equal this one, from any other outlet at a comparable price.I mean how can you not love that price? Anyways, best bang for your buck I would say. (Oh one more thing, it comes with vista, so clean it out and put XP/MCE on it, or cope with the memory whore that vista is)

I just read a review on that Gateway in a pc gaming magazine. they gave it an editors choice award. looks great for the price.

Yeah it's a hell of a rig for the price. Had I not recently had serious engine problems in my vehicle, it would be the PC I would have liked to make this post from.

Ahhh and there is a catch to the Gateway 7024. It is Retail only, so you might actually spend a little more if the outlet is a small one. I've looked and looked, and no online outlets are carrying it presently. That may change down the line, but who's to say.
