Anlushac11OK first off the 9200 is a DirectX 8 card. The FX 5200 is a DX9 card. Do you plan on playing any DX9 games in the future? such as Half Life or the new version of Counterstrike? The DX9 card will be better for playing the newer games. And even then I would not choose a Radeon 9200 over a FX5200. A Radeon 9600SE is about even when compared to a FX5200. The Radeon 9200 performs about even wiuth a GF 4MX 460.

Iv'e played DX9 stuff on a 7200... Any cards with SE on the end in the radeon family is not reccommended to buy. It's one of the chips that has a few of the Pixel pipelines shut off in it, and thus wont run as well. (PS. You can easily get a cheap AGP board to use).

I just played Doom 3 on my Ti 4200 which is a DX8 card. It will play a DX9 game fine. The problem is it doesnt support the DX9 features like shadows and lighting effects.

To play the game in all its glory you need a card that supports the version of Direct X.
