Yup.

The 7900 series is the best as of now - however if you don't have an infinite cash supply, a 6800GS or a 7800 series will still perform excellently.

Best? 7900GTX or the 7800gtx 512 dual core.

Right now an SLI setup with dual 512MB 7900GTX's (period. If you really want the best nVidia setup, wait for the quad-SLI 7900GTX's to come out soon (I'm not entirely sure when). It's basically two 7900GTX's (completely separate cards) that are bolted together and share a single PCIe slot. You get two of these on an SLI motherboard and you have yourselfs a quad-7900GTX setup.

I think the 6800GS is the best bang for the buck, Cheap and it rocks

That is about $720 US...

You can buy any stand alone card for that money. I wouldn't bother with SLi, so I would go for one of these two;

The nVidia being the quicker out of the two.

Yes, they are the most powerful cards on sale.

I think the 7900 series cards have a lower power consumption then the 1900 series cards. Since the cards have about equal performance, I'd say that alone is enough to choose nVidia's line over ATI's. Besides, the 7900GTX has more room for overclocking.
