There is an issue that I have found most distressing concerning my speakers! Yes, the poor two of them, every once in a while make the strangest noise... it almost sounds like they are in pain! Anyway, this noise is very annoying and I would like to get rid of it. I believe that it is the speakers that have the problem because I have tried two types of headphones and neither of them made the noise.
These are my audio stats: Device Name: SigmaTel Audio Type: WDM Default Device: Yes Drivers Name: sthda.sys
Also, I have Direct X 9.

Could it be a cell phone? I know cell phones sometimes mess mine up. Also, my old comp had SigmaTel and it just plain sucked, it was Dell Dimension 5150. I had a problem with mine concerning Vista, but i have 5.1 speakers so i dont think that'd apply, Maybe try getting a sound card? Wait for other responses though cuz i'm no computer tech
Cell phones can make them sound like Beeping or scratching, don't really know why, or a better sound card may be a solution, creative HD 7.1 is kinda good (as i use), it only makes some noise and sounds when i get a message on my cell phone.
I would die without GF

If the headphones don't make a similar noise then it suggests that the speakers are on their way out, or that there's some kind of problem with the speaker cable (interference, dodgy connection etc).
Ok, I know that it is not a cell phone. I don't own one. One other person who lives with me owns one but it's a Cricket so it doesn't make any noises like the ones my speakers make and it's turned off most of the time. Anyway, the noise isn't at all like beeping. It sounds kinda like a guitar that is really out of tone and it's being played by someone who's drunk... I might be able to record the sound if that is what you need.
