Okay, ive got a AMD Athlon 1900 1.6 MGHZ processor, 512 mb RAM and a radeon 9600 128mb pro. I want to upgrade the proccessor and the RAM. Im upgrading the RAM to 1 gig. But im just not sure about the processor!? I want one that can handle the latest games and ones in the future. But i dont want to spend so much money. So, what do you all think?
well i had the same issue, except i started from the ground up.. I had the choice of p4 or amd64, so i reviewed them all and descided to go for amd.. i then had a choice either spend 400+ for 3400 or go 200+ for the 3200 not much of a differance other than 200mhz. So i went 3400 and let me tell you from a 2.4p4 to a 3400 is a HUGE differance and i can play any game out their with full graphics. I also bout the asus 5950ultra.. the choice is prefrance.. you choose..
okay, great. what graphics card and RAM do you have by the way?
these are my specs
case-thermaltake v1000d cpu-amd 64 athlon 3400+ mobo- asus deluxe se edition with ht memory- twin sticks corsair 516( total 1 gig)3200 400mhz power- 600watt premium video card- asus 5950 ultra 256mb cooling- aerocool high tower with dual fans(38c) disk- ws 200gig 7200 rpm
okay, great. thanks.
anytime my freind
you really should get the AMD64bit cpu, 64 bits the next generation, who wants a 32 bit now ;)
noone needs the 64 bit tech. if you just want a good cpu get around 3000+ they are inexpensive and will play any game out.
I think your processor should be okay for the next few years. I have a 1.7 and a 3.06 and I don't feel an extreme amount of difference when I game on one from the other.

wow, are you sure about that? mabye i should just stick with upgrading my RAM!? or mabye instead of a new processor, perhaps and new graphics card!
