A great video showing what Longhorn was before Microsoft went off and killed it..

Look how fast it was.. And so many features that were shown in there are not there anymore.. Plus it looks way more nicer and clean... Oh why did Windows kill it.. Longhorn looked so good and would of been great if they kept it in that stage..

To be blunt I don't think you would have liked it regardless of what they did (or didn't do) to it. Plus, the early versions of Longhorn were ridiculously resource intensive. I think you'd have a lot more ammunition if they'd released an OS that requires an uber processor and 2gb RAM minimum; as opposed to Vista which is capable of running on an 8 year old Pentium 3 coupled with 512mb RAM (or probably less)...not well, but it's possible.

Last time I looked, Mac OS can't do anything remotely as pretty as that and although I'm hardly a big user I havn't seen anything that good on the Linux front either. Yeah, ok it sucks that Vista lost features...but if I install Vista, my PC is still a decent machine, not an obsolete wreck.

Can't have it both ways mate, nobody has managed that to date.

Windows didn't "kill" it. They just didn't include that advanced GUI. Big deal, what's to say that wasn't as unstable as any other Windows edition?

You really hate Vista, don't you?

Have you even seen any of the other os's on launch date? Alot were unusable and xp was just utter shit when it first came out. This is their first one that works. Everything made by microsoft actually works. Everything else like drivers does not. And yes I have seen it run much smoother than xp. Try getting two gigs of ram first then try.

I'm sick to death of people ragging about Windows Vista. It's unbelievable how many 'noobs' (If you want to call them that) whinge about Vista being utter shit because it runs horrible on their system. They're not forced to use it. It isn't a terrible OS at all, it is far more advanced than XP (What would you expect though?). It's just drivers, and software incompatibility that are the problem, not Microsoft.

The build ran beautifully on my PC. Not a problem at all.

That looked extremely cluttered and not very intuitive at all, and I very much doubt that it would run on any normal systems beyond the ubercomputer they were undoubtedly running it on.

I think Vista is just a stop-gap OS until they can truly "finish" the OS they've been working on all along. Perhaps it'll be a little more like Longhorn. Can't say if that's a good thing or not.

It is way too early for people to just shit on Vista. I'm not a big fan of it myself, but even with my skepticism I would have never dreamed of it being entirely trouble free upon release.

btw - I think all the Vista (sucks) threads are amusing. :D

I find the sheer regularity of them plus the fact that most of them are posted by one guy to be quite strange, personally...

Is it the same guy who posted this one, who claims to be 18, but funny enough last year his age was 14?

Jesus, space time continuum.

Nah... You just need to watch more soap operas. Kids routinely are born, hang around for a year or so then mysteriously are absent from the show for a season or two. Then suddenly they are back, and inexplicably 16 years old (they don't even bother trying to explain why). Must be something in the vitamins or the space time continuum you speak of.

I concur though that it seems alot of the Vista stuff could be posted as a reply to another Vista topic rather than make another thread. ...but, I hate forum nazis, so who am I to complain?
