I don't understand this. If NVidia feel they've somehow sullied the name of the 3xx series because of their stupid rebrands of 2xx products, they shouldn't be so afraid of it. Fanboys will always buy NVidia, no matter what it's called. And I can sort of understand the analogy to the Geforce 4 Ti series. But if I remember correctly, didn't the Radeon 9800 and 9700 absolutely smash them? So what are they insinuating? That the Cypress refresh or RV900 will do the same for GF100?

Aside from that, we still don't have any concrete information on core clocks, or more importantly, shader clocks, memory clocks, TDP, temperatures, acoustics, or any other form of useful information.

That's a very weird move I must admit... then again, nVidia and naming things doesn't usually make a lot of sense.

The only thing I can think of is that it might be so that people don't compare a GTX380M - which is actually a rebranded 8800 chip when you get right down to it - to its desktop counterpart, or lump one in with the other. Probably just a move to completely differenciate the up-coming lineup from everything previous.

What I'm really waiting for is a fraking price for these things, as well as clocks.

The GT3xx series are mobile-exclusive, just like the GT1xx series were.

And I'm pretty sure the Radeon 9xxx series were competing with nVidia's FX5-series, not the 4-series. That's when I replaced my Radeon 9250 with an FX 5200. =p

Why? The cards won't be any less powerful. It's just a name change. Probably not the easiest one to follow, but still, it's a name-only change.

That, and that i'm getting pretty tired of the 4th renaming in the cards already.

Also, when is it ever going to be released?

It's not a renaming, the GTX 470 and 480 are based on the brand-new GF100 chip.

lol, the 300 series cards are now all just yet again rebranded past gen cards. Of couse they overclocked them a little, added more vram to a couple, but yeah....

Nvidia's skills at rebranding and renaming products never ceases to amaze me.

I had a FX 5200, it was crap. Just like most of the FX series was.

You freaking kidding me? That thing ran Halo like a boss, the 9250 couldn't even handle it. =p
