I am trying to decide which RAM to get for my new PC. To avoid any biased opinions, I won't mention and brands, but the specs are: 2x512 500MHz, CAS Latency of 2.5 7 4 4 or 2x512 400MHz, CAS Latency of 2 3 2 5 Which would perform better? Please don't reccomend any specific brands of memory... I simply want to know if the lower latency lower bandwith would perform better or worse than the higher latency higher bandwith. I'm looking for a purly objective answer, so please only answer if you really know your latency's and clock speeds and know what your talking about. And I appriciate any help you can offer. Also, should a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 mobo be able to handle RAM at or above 500MHz?

Good point... the higher latency 500MHz stuff is Geil Ultra Series Dual Channel, and the low latency 400MHz stuff is Patriot Dual Channel.

theyd work the same, but you are using 2 extra slots for 4x256MB, so your better going with 2x512MB because you can upgrade more easily and cheaper later on
