hey all, its time for my second post in the tech discussion forum. Im looking in to buying half life 2 and I am facing a Video card problem, I saw another thread about performance issues with a Nvidia FX5600 in half life 2 which is what I have. And Im not to happy the way it came out with that Nvidia card. So ive done a few searches on ATI video cards and Ive found a cheap good quality radeon, tell me what I should do: Keep my Nvidia? or Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT 256M DDR TV/ DVI-I w/o HL2

http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/1717_Sapphire_ATI_Radeon_9600XT_256M_DDR.asp help me out and just remember Im australian so you dont get confused with the prices.

HL2 was made with ATi cards in mind, I'd go for the Radeon.

Well it is the one of the "reccomened cards of HL2" so you should be able to run it at medium to hight at 1024x768 but I'm no sure about AA or AF.

A good never the less for the price

Yeah. You can an Xt for that much now. I got a Radeon 9000 pro. I had a few issues with halo on the PC and Joint ops but upgrading my drivers fixed it:D. I got it oc'ed by 35mhz on the core and ram. Incresed my 3dmarl 03 scores by 200 and 01 by 400:D. Here is a 9600Xt for $135. Runs CS:s at 75FPS and doom 3 at medium settings
