Is going to be free to all devices running windows 7 and 8.1 in the first year. There is no word yet as to how much it will cost to buy outright yet.

That's nice, considering how DirectX12 seems to be exclusive to Win10.

Thought this was proven to be false.

You seem to have misunderstood.

The upgrade is free for life, the offer to upgrade it for free lasts for one year. So if you don't upgrade within the first year of it's release you'll need to pay for it like you do now.

But if you do upgrade to Windows 10, you'll have the latest version of Windows for free, forever.

I didn't misunderstand I simply phrased it incorrectly. I used the word for instead of in.

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

I'll probably do the upgrade on all my PC's (it'll be nice to just have them all on the same OS to be honest) assuming that Cortana can be completely disabled.

I am waiting for the next build to come out before going back to the beta but I do like win 10 alot.

I just misread what you said to be honest. Just trying to clarify the pricing, which is good news for everyone.

Why would you want to disable Cortana? (You can, by the way)

It sure is m8. I wonder how much it will be to buy for new systems. They did some great deals with the launch of Win 8 if I remember rightly so I am optimistic about picking up a couple of copies to replace a linux home file server and media server.

I imagine they'll continue to offer it for free to OEM's for devices under 8 inches and for $15 for OEM's building PC's if they buy the 'with Bing' SKU, certainly for the first year anyway, as you would just install 8 and upgrade it otherwise.
