hey im trying to sign into windows live messenger and im getting this error. i even tried reinstalling and tried truning firewall off nothing helped. any ideas? errorna5.jpg

Well, when things like this happen, it could be that Microsofts login server is down, in which it should be indicated on the Microsoft website. Do some Googling, and see if other people are complaining that the service is down at other message board sites.

I would also recoend that you use the lost password function, and have your password e-mailed to you, just so that you can double check it.

But if he does own a router, it wouldn't be blocking outbound data.

I would try reinstalling Windows Live messenger.
