Hi, my brother has a computer that received the dreaded blue screen of death this morning and now the computer will not go into windows. I would like to know how I can go about reinstalling windows on that machine or if you think that would help this problem. The only thing I know about his computer is that its processor is 945Mgz AMD processor (not sure exactly what type), it has a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX-440 with 64meg AGP, used to have Windows XP home edition before the blue screen this morning.

If you have the Windows disc, just boot the PC, press DEL to enter BIOS, then make CDROM the 1st boot device. Insert the Windows CD and boot up and reinstall, or choose to repair.

If you can get as far as just after/during the BIOS select screen, then you can enter Windows' built-in recovery system. It has a function key assigned to it but it varies from PC to PC. It is basically another operating system where you can choose what starts up when Windows does etc.

Just try a different function key (eg. F5) for each boot up till you get it. I am pretty sure it won't be F1, F2 (BIOS HOTKEYS) or F7 (SAFE MODE). One of the other ones.

Thanks for the info everyone. I seem to have gotten the computer problem fixed since the computer is loading into windows without any problem right now. If I have any more problems I will return for more help.
