I would die without GF
8th October 2006
I have 2 PCs and a laptop, all running XP SP3. My main PC is, for some reason, a standalone PC - it can't see anything in the network, even its own folders put up to share.
I can ping both PC2 and the laptop from the command prompt, both with IP addresses and computer names. PC2 and the laptop can both see and share each other perfectly fine. However, typing \\[computername] or \\[IP address] into the Run dialog don't work, I get this:
Windows Explorer \\[IP address] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network is not present or not started.

The Help button doesn't work. And even if it did, I'm not very confident it would help.
When I try type my own IP address/name into the Run dialog, I get:
No network provider accepted the given network path
I run this as an admin account (or is there a 'superadmin'?), so permissions shouldn't really be an issue.
Some help would be really appreciated.
