as you know from a previous thread i reinstalled windows and ever since i have done that windows has been constantly updating , but now the windows updates fails for some reason , and i am constantly dling , restarting , failing , so i have decided to turn off automatic updates.

I am bit worried as these updates are as follows

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x64

Security Update for Windows Mail for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB951066)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB950974)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB954459)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB956802)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB957097)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB958869)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB959426)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB974318)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB955020)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB970430)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB971737)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB973687)

I am not sure if one update is making the rest not work ? or how important they really are or how to correct the situation , thank you

When it prompts you to download updates, choose which ones are installed. It could be that you're missing a core component that they all need.

You should have a WindowsUpdate.log file somewhere (probably inside the Windows directory itself, but I can't tell for sure since I don't have Vista) : try to have a look at what's inside, there may be clues about the error, or at least an error number which could lead you to help about solving it.
