Feisty Fawn has AIGLX and compiz by default for desktop effects, although you have to enable them. I prefer the subtlety and stableness of compiz over beryl, but beryl does have tons-o-customization.

I'm not into the whole fancy customization scene. Windows Vista looks nice but Microsoft once again focused on the graphical side rather than paying attention to how the system is run. And Beryl just looks too damn complicated to run - you never know, it could be easier than it looks but for now, Windows XP will do me fine.

Beryl is very easy to use. And it works more or less perfectly out of the box. Everything else is just icing.

I was pleasantly surprised to see native support for compiz in Feisty, but I'd grown too accustomed to Beryl in Edgy.

I've seen Vista live in action. Excepting woobly windows, it is very similar to Beryl. Except it doesn't have an Exposé clone, or a cube.

I think he's asking for the minimum requirements to use either of these operating systems.

A 64mb NVidia Geforce 2 for Ubuntu, with Beryl. For full effects, you should have something that is currently supported by NVidia, Such as a Geforce FX series or later. ATI support is still being improved...

Vista requires a 128mb DirectX 9 card for basic effects, and a DirectX 10 card for full effects.
