It won't play any video files at all. It just started having this problem seemingly for no reason. I tried reinstalling it, replacing my video codecs, even system restores, but nothing seems to help. Every time I try to play any video file, the computer locks up completely. It just makes a beep, and then will not respond to any user input after that until I reboot. Is there anything else I can do short of reinstalling Windows completely? I'm using XP Professional.
I had that problem at one stage, it just wouldnt play any videos.
In the end, I gave up playing videos for a couple of months, and it worked when I next tried it. In the interim I believe I may have updated my graphics card drivers.
I didn't make it!
Try downloading VLC Media player - google it. It plays almost any kind of file without needing codecs.
