So, I just picked up one of these bad boys at Newegg for about $75 with free shipping, and i'm hoping to see a noticeable improvement over my current 2.8 Ghz 5600+. I know the clock speed is lower, but apparently, the K10 architecture is about 15-20% faster than the K8 (The current X2 Architecture). Only thing is, My motherboard is only an AM2 socket, and not AM2+, so I won't b seeing as good of improvements as I would have hoped until I upgrade my motherboard, which then requires me to get a new OS (Damn OEM..)..

Anyways. I was wondering what you guys' thoughts are on the 7750. In benchmarks (both gaming and productivity) it seems to perform substantially better than the X2 6000, and marginally better than the Phenom X3's. I'm hoping this is what I need to help out my poor little system, and maybe give it the last boost before AM3 comes out in (I think) Q1 '09

Do you own an oem copy of the os or is a pre-built/installed os? If you own a disk, you can just phone it in.

Yeah, i knew about the calling in to change it, but it's pre-installed. :/

I'm hoping my "step-Grandpa" has a copy of Vista Home I can install. If not, the motherboard upgrade will be pushed back even more..

IIRC the X2 7750 is basically what was going to be called "Phenom X2", based on the upcoming Phenom II cores.

I've been looking at the 7750 or a 9850BE for my AM2+ system i have, but i'm waiting to see if my mobo will support the AM2 versions of Phenom II before i decide.

Do you have any links to some good benchmarks for the 7750? last i looked i couldn't find any good ones.

Quick Update:

Yesterday I ordered an M2N68 VM Asus mobo with support for AM2+, so I'll be able to use the cpu to it's full potential, as well as 4x1 GB of 1066mhz ram. Along with my 9600GT, I should be a LOT better off in most games (especially considering I'm currently running 3GB of 333mhz ram; which i have no idea why its clocked so low, its all supposed to be 667 mhz, but I was too lazy to fix it.. :p)

Anways, I'll update back after I've had a chance to play with it, and see what it can do!

the 333mHz is right (or very close)....

for example, DDR2 800 is actually 400mhz
