Hi! I am planning on building my first gaming comp (yeah!) and i have pretty much everything nailed down except for my video card. I have it narrowed down to pretty much two options: SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON X850 XT Video Card eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra Video Card I mostly plan on playing HL2, UT2004, DOOM3, and Battlefield 2. I was woundering if anyone could tell me which on is better and make some kind of reccomendations? (Thanks!)
Well, there both equell:D If you like nvida then go with them, and if you like ATI then go with them. 9800 ultra eh:naughty:
I personally perfer ATI, but i am worried that the SLI might be very important as well. Do think that there is going to be a need to have dual cards running with SLI anytime soon?
If you got a SLI ready mobo then it would be best to go with the 6800ultra then grab another and run them in SLI. If you don't have an SLI mobo then get the ATI Either way, they will own those games:D w00t 4900th post:lock:
:agreed ,i doubt you should see a need for SLI anytime soon, or if ever because there should always be at least 1 card that could run on its own playing games perfect btw, whys this thread called X850XT vs. 9800 ULTRA?
spelling error. i would go with the 6800 SLI, it can be more upgradable in the future. But its your choice.
I would take the ATI, coz i prefer ATI. It's opinion really.
so many differant threads lead into the same thing about nVidia vs ATI
I't depends on your opinion and what games you play i play half life 2, battlefield 1942, cs:s and rome total war which are all probably best suited too the X850XT, while the 6800U is better at doom3 and 3Dmark scores. personnally,i am going to buy a Powercolor X850XT and an SLI mobo(for future upgrades) but with the X850 there is not really any upgradibility with it, but with the 6800 there is because of SLI. the 6800ultra is also like 100 bucks more aswell choose what you want to....but i know what i am going to get
ATI tends to have an advantage with FSAA.
