Hey guys i was planning on buying a new computer this year because i really need one. Basically i just want one to play sweet games at max. Now, I am also a big console gamer and i was thinking about buying a 360 just because of the cost vs performance value. I was just wondering what graphics card on the computer market would perform just as good as the xbox 360 graphics card. The only reason i ask this is because i want a new computer but not if its going to cost me a lot of money just to get the sweet visuals a xbox 360 + a hdtv would get me.

Well I dont think you can build a decent comp for the price of the 360, what are they $400. So if you are saying that you dont want to spend alot on a new comp, I would say go waste your money on the 360, If you add another $200 to your budget then you will be in the running for a decent comp

I don't think thats quite what he was saying.... A graphics card that would give you performance on par with an XBOX 360 would probably be a 512MB 7800GTX or an X1800XT, and maybe more (assuming your processor is good enough not to cause any bottlenecking). In other words, an XBOX 360 equivalent graphics card (without the computer) would cost about twice as much as an XBOX 360.

Go with the 360,a new computer would cost really high compared to a 360.

But it would be worth it much more in the long run. 360 will stay the same, computer will advance.

All you could buy for $400 is a 7800GTX, x1800XT, or a pair of 6800GS's. The 360 is cheaper, but over all a new pc is better. Then there is the TV issue for the 360, unless you have a 720p+ hdtv the 360 is a waste, you will not even be able to see the good graphics on a non hdtv. Run your favorite PC game on 640x480 and you will see very quickly what I mean.
