So I've been getting this error msg on some of my programs.

evilliespp5.th.jpg

And I've no idea why. I mean sure the memory use probably shouldn't be that way but Vista hogs 45-50% when I'm not doing anything anyway and the stuff I'm using is certainly in no danger of using all the memory in there up when it's still got hundreds of megabytes free.

The puzzling thing is this is a new problem, vista's never bitched about the ammount of memory I've been using before and I've had it circling the 80-90% marks when I've been doing other stuff. Even now it's running smooth as a baby when Vista starts kicking up its bitch fit. What's goin' on folks?

I'm sure you tried before, but have you tried restarting your system?

I know of quite a few smaller programs that have bad memory leaks or don't leave system memory at all after you told it to close. (WinRaR has this problem in XP64).

Next time you encounter this error, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the menu for the task manager and launch that. Look under processes to see which programs are using the most memory. You should find out exactly why you're seeing this problem.

I remember something like this occuring to my friend whenever he came off playing Crysis, he had 2Gb of memory, I'm not sure what caused it but when does it happen? If it happens after using memory intensive programs then that may be the cause.

Also, do you have virtual memory running?

Mmmm, this sounds more like it's running out of space in the page file than physical memory. It's been a long time since I've seen Windows (or any OS for that matter) warning about actually being out of RAM. Memory in general yes, but not physical RAM specifically.

In short, the questions Rebel and n0e asked should tell us. :p

That can be checked in the task manager too. My problem is sorta similiar. Instead of memory, my computer takes too much CPU being on the internet(On a QuadCore, it may take 15% to just open Mozilla). But i figured out it's because it draws alot on my power supply. Not sure if it's the same it does to you.

2 gigs, it never uses all of it anyway.

I did but it seems to have been toggled off by something. :uhm: I'll try turning it back on and see whether the problem goes away.
