I really don't like neither of the two companies. But since Micro$oft and Apple run the show, there's not many other options.

Zune: $250 for 80Gb? What's to beat?.. Nothing else to say just that it's cheap for an 80Gb player with a large screen.

Itouch:$275 on amazon, 8Gb. Wifi internet(very useful to me), dozens of applications for it, and.. 8Gb of space, not bad. I don't have 8Gb of music, plus the music I don't even listen to anymore.

I don't know what to get! I'd like to get the Zune but I have absolutely no reason to have 80Gb. The Itouch is more expensive but way less space, but more use to its tools. (never wanted to install Itunes but oh well I can suffice). Right now I have a 2Gb Sansa E series, which is becoming useless to me, can't put anything on it and ...screen is so small to even think about watching a video on it.

I'm weighing towards the touch but still uncertain. Anyone give me some direction in where to head before I jump the gun on a purchase?

I have a certain hate towards all Apple products, so I would say go for the Zune. However the space is an issue if you don't need that much.

I dislike Apple as well. But just because of the tools it has on it is what attracts me to it.

No way in hell would I ever buy anything else from Apple/Mac though. =P

Before I say anything, I despise apple and am a m$ fanboy. That being said, haven't heard much good about the zune. I have 3 friends who use the itouch and without going into any "legality-related" details, you can do a lot of cool things with it. The screen is also super tough. I have seen videos of people moving a microtech halo along the screen without a scratch. I would go for the 16GB Itouch.

The new version of the zune should be pretty damn good..

a better bang for the buck than the Itouch.. and you can have more movies on it and you dont have to install itunes (jobbey program)

I just got my wife an 8GB Ipod Touch and its really good but i think one thing you certainly dont get is bang for buck. Its an 8GB mp3 player for twice the cost of all the competition, its outrageously expensive i think.

Why not go for the new creative Zen? They have 4, 8, 16 & 32 gig players that play divx movies too. I have the 8 gig with a 4 gig sd card & it is amazing :ZEN ZEN4GBBK - MP3 Players - Credit card-sized media player

Yes, do take Zens into consideration as well. I think they're underrated.

Anyway, I would go for the iTouch except for two things: 1.) iTunes. It's just annoying software. It runs background processes which I despise, and I just don't like the interface and slow-ness. But some people like it.

Spoiler: Show
I personally have (had) and iPod nano 1GB, and I would have loved it twice as much if I could have used windows media player. Sadly my sister converted all my songs to AAC :\

2.) Functionality. It basically appears to be a glorified PDA to me. But it does seem nice, and again it's all preference.

Now, I really haven't heard anything at all about the Zune.

I would go with the iTouch, there is just so much you can do with a iPod. You can even install Linux on them. Everybody i know who has iPods hasn't had any problems with them, and they can take a hell of a beating. I've seen them dropped and hit things that should have broke them, but it didn't, and they still worked fine.

I don't know how strong the touch screen is compared to the old screens, but those old screens were pretty damn tough.

Like others, i've literally not heard anything, either good or bad about the Zune.

The-Bleh-Bleh 1.) iTunes. It's just annoying software. It runs background processes which I despise, and I just don't like the interface and slow-ness. But some people like it.

You can disable those processes and iTunes will still work just fine. It is a little slower than WMP on Windows, but its so much better at organizing and managing a music collection that the slightly slower speed is well worth it.

Its very fast on OSX though, where WMP is unbearably slow. Also, the AAC format rocks, much better than mp3 i think. You can get better quality at a lower bitrate, and they can always be converted to mp3 later incase you have something thats not cool and won't play AAC files.

Yes, I'm a Apple fan in case any of you didn't know!
